How to install Wordpress on localhost (local computer)

This topic will give step by step instructions on how to install wordpress to your computer for theme development and testing.

I have spent the last 3 months testing and developing Drupal, Joomla, and then finally Wordpress CMS’s (content management system). Had I started with wordpress I doubt I would have tested the others, the process for the former 2 are very similar to the process I will be describing below if you are looking to install and test those as well. However I believe Wordpress is the best out of the 3 for a number of reasons that I will describe below.
